The ceramic body is heavy and can crack if dropped or knocked: keep it in its nest or cart or on a sturdy, non-combustible surface, and move it with two or more people. Burn only natural lump charcoal — never lighter fluid or petrol. Keep the stated clearances to walls, furniture and anything combustible, use heat-resistant gloves, and open the lid slowly in stages ("burp" it) to avoid a flashback of flame.
